Culvert Installation and Maintenance (CTAP)

This CTAP workshop gives participants general knowledge on the use of culverts, different materials and their applications, and how to install and maintain them. It emphasizes frequent inspection and periodic maintenance to ensure that the culvert is working properly. The workshop also describes best practices for culvert installation and maintenance being used by other agencies in Minnesota.

Registration

Mail or fax your registration or register online no later than one week prior to the program. Preregistration allows us to contact you if the workshop must be postponed due to weather or other factors. A refund of the registration fee, minus a $30 cancellation fee, will be made if written cancellation is received at least five working days before the workshop. Disability accommodations will be provided upon request.

  • Relining culverts, materials, and techniques

An exercise on shooting grade with an eye level will be conducted if time permits. Workshop participants will learn how to read a grade rod, determine a rod reading, and use a level.

Who Should Attend

Street or road superintendents, supervisors, and maintenance workers responsible for culvert installation or maintenance.

  • 0.5 Roads Scholar Program elective credit
  • To the best of our knowledge, this course/activity meets the continuing education requirements for 4.0 PDHs as outlined in Minnesota Statute 326.107. More information concerning continuing education for professionals is online at www.aelslagid.state.mn.us

Instructor(s)

Kathleen Schaefer became the CTAP instructor in 2001 and conducts road maintenance workshops throughout Minnesota. She has worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation since 1997. Kathleen also serves as the liaison for the National Local Technical Assistance Program (NLTAPA) and APWA.
