Motor-grader operator training is being scheduled now for summer 2009. Don't miss out on training your employees to efficiently and safely operate a grader!
Grader operator training is a two-day course, delivered on-site using your own facilities equipment. This allows attendees to learn on the equipment they operate in the workplace. Teaching methods include hands-on participation, visual aids, the DVD Gravel Road Maintenance: Meeting the Challenge, text, and actual equipment operations. Students must understand, practice, and demonstrate the safe use of equipment while performing outlined tasks.
The dates and locations for training sessions are determined after applications are received (please fill complete the Application & Interest Form by April 24, 2006) . Minnesota LTAP requires a registration list of no less than twelve participants and no more than twenty participants for a weeklong session. A site convenient to several counties or cities planning on attending is located based on responses for hosting the training. County Engineers are asked to recruit surrounding cities and townships to provide the required number of participants.
Please complete the Application & Interest Form by April 24, 2006 if you are interested in hosting a Motor Grader Operator Training session during the summer of 2006 or if you can not host a classroom but would like to send an operator(s).
Day one consists of a classroom session with lunch and refreshment breaks and will primarily focus on blading techniques, safe operation, and daily equipment maintenance. Dust control methods, drainage, repair of frost boils, use of fabric, and benefits of good quality gravel will also be covered.
Day two consists of a "hands-on" field training session. The Instructor travels to your local site and advises participants while they operate their own equipment on their own location. This is a very beneficial day for all operators and especially new ones.
All participants attend classroom on the first Monday of the weeklong session. The participants are divided into groups of three and four to participate in the "hands-on" training Tuesday through Friday. Supervisors can use the course to stay abreast of new developments and operating techniques.
