Roadway/Bridge Maintenance

Motor Grader Operator Training

Grader operator training is delivered on-site using customer equipment, allowing attendees to learn on the equipment they operate in the workplace. Teaching methods include heavy "hands-on" participation, visual aids, the new Gravel Roads DVD, text, and actual equipment operations. Students must understand, practice, and demonstrate the safe use of equipment while performing outlined tasks.

Dates & Locations

The dates and locations for training sessions are determined after applications are received (please fill complete the Application & Interest Form by April 24, 2006) . Minnesota LTAP requires a registration list of no less than twelve participants and no more than twenty participants for a weeklong session. A site convenient to several counties or cities planning on attending is located based on responses for hosting the training. County Engineers are asked to recruit surrounding cities and townships to provide the required number of participants.

The Program

Day two consists of a "hands-on" field training session. The Instructor travels to your local site and advises participants while they operate their own equipment on their own location. This is a very beneficial day for all operators and especially new ones.

All participants attend classroom on the first Monday of the weeklong session. The participants are divided into groups of three and four to participate in the "hands-on" training Tuesday through Friday. By the end of the week each student will have attended the classroom training and one day of field training.
