Minnesota city, county, state, and township road maintenance workers gathered in St. Cloud on October 1-2 for the 1998 Fall Maintenance Expo.
This year the classroom presentations featured winter survival techniques, winter work zone safety, equipment innovations, and anti-icing, among other things. Tom Broadbent, the Circuit Training and Assistance Program instructor, presented "Spreader Calibration and Other Good Stuff." Other highlights were the snowplow "roadeo" and vendor displays showing some of the latest equipment and technology for roadway maintenance and snow and ice removal.
"This was one of the best expos ever," says Craig Wilkins of Mn/DOT's Office of Communications. "St. Cloud did a great job hosting the event and providing useful and low-tech examples."
Expo sponsors were the Minnesota T2 Center, Mn/DOT, the Minnesota Chapter of the American Public Works Association, and the Minnesota Street Superintendents Association.
