Featured Web Sites

  • In the above article "Simple Solutions" for Rural Transportation, we featured a new publication titled Technology in Rural Transportation: "Simple Solutions." The Minnesota Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, has created a World Wide Web site designed to help practitioners use the information in this publication to solve real-world problems. The site also features a survey so users can evaluate its content and ease of use. This site is available at http://inform.enterprise.prog.org
  • Results of a recent Y2K survey by the Institute of Transportation Engineers are shown on the ITS Cooperative Deployment Network, www.nawgits.com/y2k. It includes lists from manufacturers of traffic control equipment and software and whether the devices are Y2K compatible. Almost all items listed are Y2K compatible.
  • If you haven't already, a good site to bookmark is the National Association of County Engineers site, www.naco.org/affils/nace/index.htm.
  • The National Snow and Ice Data Center has compiled various educational resources for teachers and students at its Web site, http://www-nsidc.colorado.edu

The site includes links to general snow information, winter storm safety, avalanche awareness, glaciers, snow removal efforts, blizzards, and mapping.
