About the Workshop

This workshop will cover all aspects of rehabilitation for concrete pavements, concrete curb and gutter, and median sidewalk pavement. Specifications from the Minnesota Local Road Research Board have been incorporated into the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) standard plates. The worskhop will cover all the repairs, including recommendations on when to use low-volume full-depth repairs or the MnDOT high-volume full-depth repairs.

The workshop includes a field review to mark out and determine what to repair on an actual city street. Please bring a safety vest to wear during the field review.

  • Review city street concrete pavement needing repair
  • Review of team reports of field survey

Course Instructors

Gordy Bruhn is a concrete field engineering specialist at the MnDOT Concrete Office. His job involves helping DOT and other government agencies to determine correct concrete repair and concrete rehabilitation plans and specifications.

Gary Orlich, P.E., is an instructor in the MnDOT certification program and an ACI examiner for the Aggregate and Ready Mix Association of Minnesota. He also has done personal service contracts with the cities of Columbia Heights and Minneapolis, helping them with concrete rehabilitation projects.
